Zomtober 2015/2: The Green Experiment

The second week of Zomtober sees another red ghoul join the pack. As to the post-title, I added a little green to the washes to take the edge off the purple being used. The end result is darker and less saturated than last week's submission. They look good side by side though. The third member of the trio will hopefully wind up somewhere in between.

Some touch-ups around the hairline and brow are needed.

  1. Stunning stuff Finch (I should really just cut'n'paste this comment for all of your posts), and I absolutely love the subtle attention to detail you give the skin. No block colour, wash and go for you clearly ;-)

    1. Thank you, Simon. These OW ghouls are all skin, after all. Beside being excellent sculpts, they're great minis to practice on.

    1. Thanks, Bob. I was thinking that if the local necromancer ever started a KISS cover band, this guy could be his Gene Simmons.

    1. Thanks, Chris. The underbelly got some dark shading, the darkest being reserved for the groin, armpits, and under the jaw mostly.

  5. Superb contrasts on your (by that I mean the mini's) skin tone considering this piece has a faded pale pastel look overall. :)

    1. Thanks, Kuan. In addition to using some green I also avoided using GW's Fleshtone wash here. Gives a slightly different effect.

  6. Very nice I do like the skin tone subtly different but will still mix with the others well.

  7. Just for the sake of completion, I'll drop a line to say I've been and visited this post as well - That's the trouble after you've been away from a computer for so long, there's a huge backlog of posts to catch up on :(

I tell you what I really do like about this mini, and that's it's nails. Nice how you've picked them out in grey.
