PTS III: Owl the News That's Fit to Print

Here follows a very brief post showing the state of my paint-table and its current occupant, an Otherworld Miniatures Owlbear.

This guy's been sidetracked for quite a while. The fur is to my liking and basically done. A few other details (i.e. whether to paint some sort of pattern on the feathers) still need to be sorted out.

  1. Nice work, Finch. I like it. A little something for the eyes to make them pop, might just push this work over the edge!

    1. Thank you, Jay. I'm with you on the eyes. Bright yellow's a possibility.

  2. Oh I say, he is rather splendid - if a little odd! So how do you fix the bases to the bottle tops? I guess the bottles make it easier to work on the miniature.

    1. I myself am undecided as to whether he's oddly splendid or merely splendidly odd. An iconic Gary Gygax creation either way.

I use Elmer's Tack to attach the minis to the bottle caps. http://www.elmers.com/product/detail/E625?filterPath=putty%2fhome-and-office%2f The bottles themselves make excellent handles while painting. For bulkier minis (such as this) I fill them partially with gravel so they're not top-heavy.

    2. I've not heard of Elmer's tack before, I shall have to see if I can track some down - many thanks!

    3. I use blutack Michael :) Sounds very much like a similar product to Elmer's Tack.

    1. I am also interested to see what I do with the feathers. They need to be highlighted at the very least.
